The shop owner rarely buys pre-owned jewelry (mainly because I don't use them often). Compared to pre-owned bags... jewelry isn't always the most cost-effective.
Items in good condition are usually not inexpensive, especially from my two favorite brands, Celine and Loewe.
They didn't produce many jewelry pieces back then (unlike Dior and Chanel, which have an overwhelming amount...).
Additionally, preservation awareness was lower in the past, so items often aren't in the best condition. Consequently, the overall circulation of pre-owned jewelry on the market is quite limited compared to other brands.
I often wear modified pieces. In the past, even small, exquisite accessories could be ingeniously transformed into jewelry, looking both elegant and simple.
This piece is 100% authentic Celine, originally part of a handbag's lock and keychain. Sometimes these are sold separately in Japan.
The key even features the small "CELINE PARIS" lettering. The entire piece has a beautiful golden hue, with well-executed three-dimensional engraved plating. It's a product from a more recent era.
The moment I saw it, I knew I wanted to turn it into a necklace, so I acquired it for customization! Its condition is absolutely stunning. This is a "customized modification" made by myself!
To reiterate, the pendant is 100% authentic Celine! The entire chain is one I selected and configured separately. It features a versatile design that can be freely detached, allowing you to wear it as a long or short necklace to complement various styles.
As this is a handmade custom piece, if you have any specific modification requests or ideas, please feel free to message me to discuss possibilities.
Otherwise, the finished product will be as shown in the photos. These small clasps are not commonly found on the market, so this piece is one-of-a-kind! Once sold, it will not be restocked!

Only the necklace chain is a later addition; this is not a counterfeit!!! I do not sell fakes!! Comes with an original Celine branded protective sleeve.

The shop owner's fondness for pre-owned bags stems primarily from the superior quality of materials used in past eras compared to modern productions.
In the past, most pre-owned items were handmade ✦, embracing the warmth of craftsmanship rather than mass production.
Artisans' skills were far more delicate than machines, much like how everyone appreciates the creations of skilled craftspeople!
However, today, the vast majority of processes are mechanized with minimal human assembly, losing the former meticulousness.
A simple, direct comparison can be made by examining the new "monogram" prints from recent years against the authentic vintage "monogram" prints; the level of detail in the monogram patterns alone is entirely different. If you love monograms, you should seek out pre-owned items! Truly!
In terms of style, older eras leaned towards ✦ simple, timeless, and enduring designs. Many contemporary designs are actually remakes of older styles.
However, new pieces are priced higher than vintage ones. New designs are typically based on older models, with added details or modifications.
The final product often becomes more complex (or peculiar...) than its predecessors. As we mature, we realize that simplicity endures!! As we age, our clothing choices often return to basic styles because they are the most versatile.
The quality of raw materials in older pieces is undeniably superior to newer ones. Anyone knowledgeable about ✦ leather can discern this; the materials used in new items are mostly secondary to those used in older pieces.
This is mainly because the cost of high-quality raw materials is now too high, and their availability is less than before. Earth's resources are dwindling...
Furthermore, brands back then did not have the same ubiquitous presence as they do now with numerous stores everywhere... The clientele typically had a certain income level and certain expectations for the finished product. The "fast fashion" culture of today did not exist; a bag was expected to last for many years.
The difference between new and old eras is strikingly evident in the ✦ hardware. Many new bags' hardware oxidizes and discolors after just one or two years of use, but vintage pieces typically do not. Besides the use of high-quality materials and meticulous techniques, hardware from earlier eras was often plated with genuine 24K gold!
It's worth noting that Chanel Vintage is expensive for a reason; many of its clasps and chains contain real gold, certified by gold merchants!
Therefore, even vintage bags from as early as the 60s and 70s, if properly maintained, can still have hardware that shines brilliantly today. As for new products available now, based on my knowledge, none of the brands I'm familiar with use K-gold in their hardware, which is why it oxidizes so easily.
Many people say buying vintage bags is a form of alternative investment because they rarely depreciate and often appreciate in value. The market for pre-owned bags in good condition is shrinking, with fewer becoming available each day. Remember, each one is a discontinued item. The number of existing pieces is finite, meaning they will become increasingly scarce, more expensive, and harder to find. Additionally, many brands periodically increase their prices, which in turn drives up the prices in the pre-owned market.
If a brand releases a "reissue," vintage reference pieces or similar styles will see a direct price increase!
Moreover, with the recent trend of Japanese and Korean celebrities favoring vintage items, the price of a piece can skyrocket once an artist is seen with it – truly skyrocket. During such periods, many people will frantically search for that particular item or a comparable alternative, causing the prices of those few items to multiply...
Therefore, vintage is truly a case of "buy early, enjoy longer; buy late, pay more" (this isn't an advertising slogan... it's a truth in the vintage world...). This is my personal experience; I regret not acquiring certain collections earlier, only to find them unavailable now, or available at exorbitant prices...
But the dilemma is, even knowing it's exorbitant, you feel compelled to buy it because waiting will only mean a higher price later (unless the condition is poor).
I am often asked about bag maintenance (ᐢ.ˬ.ᐢ). I will include detailed instructions on a small note inside the bag, so don't worry.
My personal routine is to also care for them when I organize my wardrobe during seasonal changes (which makes each seasonal change a major undertaking...|||).
Pre-owned bags aren't actually that troublesome. Once you're new to them, it's simply a matter of getting used to regular maintenance and cherishing your bag. Once it becomes a habit, it's not difficult.
The materials of pre-owned bags are inherently excellent. As long as they are not used roughly and are preserved properly, they can easily last another decade and be passed down to your daughter!
Every pre-owned bag I collect is one I genuinely love, and I hope you will too, and that it will be preserved for years to come ☪︎ *..
☾︎.*·̩͙ If you are interested in purchasing, please feel free to message me for details. Inquiries are welcome; pre-owned items are sought by discerning customers who appreciate their value ⸜❤︎⸝.
