This is an SDGs jewelry piece featuring Kintsugi, upcycled from the pottery of Fukukikama, a Kyo ware and Kiyomizu ware kiln based in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture. Broken or chipped pottery that is no longer in use is upcycled and reborn as accessories with Kintsugi. The concept behind these pieces is to create modern accessories that connect to the future, allowing people to feel closer to nature and Japan's enduring traditions, bringing new possibilities to life. Kyo ware shards are paired with freshwater pearls. Kintsugi is applied to the sides of the pottery shards, so the gold accent shines even from the side, adding a touch of elegance. This work uses a modern, simplified Kintsugi technique. Unlike traditional methods using actual urushi lacquer derived from the sap of the lacquer tree, adhesive is used for the bonding.
