Chinese Opera Stage Postcard

/Cheung Chau Bamboo Structures Postcard/ A traditional festival in Cheung Chau, held annually on the eighth day of the fourth lunar month. The festival's origins trace back to a time when a plague afflicted Cheung Chau. Residents held the Tai Ping Ching Chiu (Bun Festival) and fasted for three days, praying for divine protection. During the festival, residents erect three giant "bun mountains," three statues of the Daai Siu Wong (King of Great Compassion), and opera stages for worshipping the deities.
