Designed by artist Allan McCollum as part of his ongoing 'Visual Marking' project, the object, which bears the word 'THANKS', derives its meaning from its exchange, serving as an important reminder of the giving and receiving of gratitude and appreciation. This design is intended to be given as a humble token of appreciation to friends, colleagues and loved ones as a symbol of gratitude in their lives. Allan McCollum is an artist in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). He began the project “Visual Marks” in 1997, a series of multiple works of varying sizes and shapes that express gratitude. This MoMA special edition of “Visual Marks” is launched to coincide with the reopening of MoMA’s new expansion in the fall of 2019 and the museum’s 92nd anniversary. It reflects McCullum's exploration of the meaning of objects and how they convey important sentiments and relational values. More than just a decorative object, it is a medium to convey gratitude and thanks, making it a special item with deep meaning for personal gifting or professional thank you.
