How to Use Copal Resin: For small chips or powder: Light it for offerings to deities, to convey wishes, for channeling, or spirit invocation. About Copal: Naturally formed, it can be broadly divided into three stages: Resin → Copal Resin → Amber. Resin secreted from trees carries a strong fragrance. It can flow, and drop by drop, the resin becomes aggregated, gradually hardening to form copal resin. With geographical changes, it becomes buried in soil, loses its volatility, and through long ages, fossilizes to form amber. Unless you have a blowtorch and continuously spray it, it's difficult. Therefore, historically, resin was used with charcoal. Nowadays, charcoal tablets are very convenient. You don't need to use a whole charcoal tablet at once (unless you want a lot of resin and a lot of smoke, so be mindful!!). Break off half or a quarter. Use a lighter (you can use matches, a gas stove flame, or friction to make fire – any fire will do) to heat the charcoal tablet until it's red hot.
