[Introduction to Main Stone] • Obsidian Obsidian, also known as black obsidian, is a natural glass formed by the rapid cooling of volcanic lava. There are over thirty varieties, presenting different colors and luster due to varying mineral content and cooling conditions. Ice obsidian is a type of translucent obsidian, said to have been used by ancient shamans for blessings, healing, warding off evil, and soothing sorrow. • In shamanic beliefs, shamans are considered individuals who possess mystical knowledge and the ability to enter a trance state.
