"Ocean Waves" attempts to view and express impressions and culture of the ocean from a modern perspective, interpreting marine culture through everyday objects. Surrounded by the sea, Taiwan has accumulated a deep and extensive marine culture over the ages, from its origins in Austronesian migration, to the Formosa described by Westerners during the Age of Discovery, the past events of crossing the sea from the mainland, the traces left by different peoples who arrived and departed through time, to the home we inhabit today. The history of "grand eras" forms the backdrop of our upbringing, while "small eras" belong to the memories of our youth, misplaced in the fishing sheds of coastal villages, by the seaside where we ran and shouted with friends, along the coastal highway stretching forward against a deep blue backdrop, the sandy beaches of the west, the rocky shores of the north, the moment waves crash against the reefs, the determined fishermen guiding boats into the harbor, the lively fish markets filled with enthusiastic calls, the joyful indulgence of seafood snacks... These fragments that accompanied us as we grew, the past and the present, and the possibilities of the future, are the emotions and thoughts we wish to share with everyone through "Ocean Waves."
