The dazzling crystalline glaze, a mastery achievable only by Master Ye, who has dedicated decades to the study of glazes. Every detail of its texture, and the overall ambiance of the vessel, requires a precise understanding of the interplay between fire, clay, and glaze to achieve such exquisite crystalline teacups. Crystalline glazes vary widely in color, presenting unique and beautiful patterns. The crystal formations can be large or small, with numerous classifications such as dotted, chrysanthemum-shaped, radial, splash-like, starburst, needle-like, and feathery, among countless others. Historically, crystalline glazed ware has been highly sought after by scholars and literati. In ancient times, due to many uncontrollable factors, potters of successive generations had to rack their brains and pour their hearts into producing a single perfect piece of crystalline glazed ware. Today, with technological advancements, many variables in the firing of crystals can be controlled. Nevertheless, this remains an extremely challenging and difficult type of work to master. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, this piece is also designed for functionality.
