Single-Flower Vase with Lustrous Turquoise Blue and White Glaze Overlay

This single-flower vase is crafted from coarse white earthenware, chosen for its ability to enhance glaze colors. It's shaped on the potter's wheel into a small, rounded form. The upper portion is adorned with a lustrous turquoise glaze reminiscent of southern seas, while the lower part features a white glaze, applied with a distinct separation. The harmonious blend of these two glazes results in a vase that is both charming and vibrantly fresh. Blue vessels are said to pair beautifully with colors such as white, yellow, and pink. Enjoy experimenting with color combinations using various botanicals like baby's breath, statice, Craspedia, and rosehips. All processes, from clay kneading to shaping, trimming, drying, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are meticulously done by hand in my studio, which is equipped with an electric potter's wheel and a medium-sized electric kiln. Due to the porous nature of pottery, a waterproofing agent has been applied to ensure water retention. This treatment has been tested to prevent water seepage for approximately 40 hours. However, some slight dampness may occur as evaporated moisture can subtly emerge from the base. If this is a concern, placing a cloth coaster underneath will provide a more secure and comfortable user experience. I explore various glazes and clays, seeking the best combinations to create pottery in diverse colors and forms. Each piece is unique, similar yet distinct, as exact replication is impossible.
