This is a bracelet strung with Tuareg silver and ancient agate, old Chin silver & old Orissa brass, jet black, indigo blue, and blue beads.
The beads at the TOP are Tuareg silver beads, from the nomadic people of the Sahara Desert in Africa. Their well-used charm is irresistible! These beads are from the early 1990s.
(Size of Tuareg silver beads: 2cm width, 0.7cm diameter)
The jet black beads are antique Venetian beads (19th-20th century). Each bead has a unique shape and size, giving them a distinct character.
The indigo blue and blue beads are antique beads known as Indo-Pacific beads. The origins of Indo-Pacific beads are said to date back to the 2nd century BC. These particular beads are excavated artifacts from Indonesia, dating back to around the 10th century – over 1000 years old! Each bead has a unique size and shape, and their worn texture is captivating.
Adorned with lustrous and beautiful ancient agate. These were excavated from the Indus River basin, including present-day Pakistan and India, and are approximately 2000 years old. They are in good condition and feature a lovely two-tone color.
(Size of ancient agate: 0.6cm width, 0.65cm diameter)
The multi-faceted silver beads in the middle are extremely rare old Chin silver, dating from around the 18th-19th century. They come from Burma and were used by Chin women for necklaces and other adornments, showing unique wear and endearing marks. Their substantial feel and presence are incomparable to modern silver (though some modern pieces are also cool...). These are antique beads that have become increasingly expensive in recent years.
The golden beads are old Orissa brass. These are old brass beads from India, and are antique beads that have become difficult to obtain and are increasingly rare in recent years.
The plump charm near the clasp is old silver from India. It is expected to develop a luster and even more character with use.
The small beads and clasp are Karen silver.
◇Karen Silver◇
This is silver made by the mountain tribes living in Thailand and Burma. Each piece is handmade, and it is said to have very high purity.
