Loewe necklace (⁎⁍̴̛ᴗ⁍̴̛⁎), 100% authentic pre-owned, made in Spain circa the 80s-90s!
If you're as deeply immersed in the Loewe pre-owned world as I am, or if you've been paying attention, you'll notice that key logo accessories are quite rare. Loewe was very understated back then; most pieces, even with a logo, featured it subtly or discreetly. For instance, they might use tone-on-tone stitching or a less conspicuous method. Accessories with a single, prominent logo are even rarer. The longer you spend in the pre-owned world, the more you realize that accessories are actually harder to find than bags, especially those in good condition. This is because if they are used, they are likely used consistently until the end, or put away. Take wallets, for example. Normally, if you find one you like, you'll use it until it's worn out or only replace it if you have a specific need. Therefore, wallets are generally found in either near-new condition or quite poor condition, with very few in between. This is typically the case for accessories, making it difficult to find ones in good condition. But! Vintage accessories offer many treasures, a wide variety of choices, and generally at very accessible price points, even comparable to new items. So, if you're interested in vintage but on a tighter budget, consider starting with small accessories to experience the quality firsthand. Personally, I find some modern pieces beautiful too; designs, details, and materials differ across eras, and the choice between vintage and modern purely depends on personal preference or budget. This rare single-logo necklace is entirely original, with no alterations or modifications. It comes with its original box, and the design is simple and pure! Modern Loewe collections also feature logo necklaces, but at more than double the price of vintage pieces, with subtle differences in detail. This piece is even more minimalist than modern versions, making it easier to style as the logo isn't overly large or ostentatious. It's a small, antique gold tone, less substantial than modern pieces, giving a light and natural feel without appearing overdone in an outfit.
⚐⚑˒˒ The necklace is in beautiful condition. While not mint, its overall appearance is excellent! What's particularly special is that it comes with its original gift box, and the metal is substantial! The logo surface shows no obvious oxidation or discoloration, though upon close inspection, minor signs of wear are visible but not prominent. The color is a vintage antique gold rather than a bright yellow. The entire necklace is original, and this antique gold tone is rare for this style. Overall, the condition is very good, with signs of wear but no significant flaws or oxidation/fading. The front and back of the logo are consistent. This is my first Loewe necklace purchase, primarily because it's so rare and, importantly, it includes its original gift box.

A primary reason I love pre-owned bags is that the materials from past eras are significantly superior to those in modern pieces. Most pre-owned items were meticulously handcrafted, without the mass production of today, embodying the warmth of artisanal skill. The craftsmanship of artisans is undoubtedly more refined than that of machines. Just as everyone appreciates items made by skilled craftspeople! Nowadays, the vast majority of production is mechanized with minimal human assembly, losing that former intricacy. The simplest and most direct way to see this is by comparing modern "reissued" monogram patterns with genuine vintage ones; the level of detail in the monogram alone is vastly different. If you love monograms, seek out pre-owned pieces, truly!
In terms of style, older designs were generally simpler, timeless, and enduring. Many modern designs are actually revivals of older styles. However, new pieces are priced higher than their vintage counterparts. Modern designs typically build upon older models, adding details or altering the design, often resulting in a more complex (or sometimes peculiar...) final product. As we mature, we realize that simplicity often endures. As we age, our clothing choices tend to return to basics because fundamental pieces are the most versatile.
The quality of raw materials in older pieces is also superior to newer ones. Anyone knowledgeable about leather can see that the materials used in new items are often secondary to those in vintage pieces. This is mainly because the cost and availability of high-quality raw materials are much higher now, and global resources are diminishing. Furthermore, brands back then didn't have the ubiquitous presence they do today; their clientele typically had a certain income level and high expectations for the finished product. The "fast fashion" culture of today didn't exist; a bag was expected to last for many years.
The difference between new and old is also evident in the hardware. Many modern bags' hardware oxidizes or discolors after just a year or two, but vintage pieces rarely do. This is due to superior materials and meticulous craftsmanship. In earlier eras, hardware was often plated with real gold! It's worth noting that Chanel Vintage pieces are expensive for a reason; many of their clasps and chains contain real gold, certified by gold merchants! This is why even vintage bags from the 60s and 70s, if well-preserved, can still gleam today. Among the brands I know, none of the new bags currently available feature K-gold hardware, which is why they tend to oxidize easily.
Many say buying vintage bags is a form of investment, as they rarely depreciate and often appreciate in value. The number of pre-owned bags in good condition on the market is steadily decreasing; each one is a discontinued item, and their numbers will only dwindle. Consequently, they become rarer, more expensive, and harder to find. Brands also periodically increase their prices, which in turn drives up the prices in the pre-owned market. If a brand releases a "reissue," the reference vintage pieces or similar styles will see a significant price surge! Additionally, with the recent trend of Japanese and Korean celebrities favoring vintage items, the price of a piece worn by a celebrity can skyrocket instantly. During such times, many people frantically search for that specific item or a similar alternative, causing prices for those pieces to multiply. Therefore, vintage is truly a case of "buy early, enjoy more; buy late, pay more" (this isn't an advertising slogan... it's a truth in the pre-owned world...). This is my personal experience; I regret not entering the market earlier for many collections, and now they are either impossible to find or come with an exorbitant price tag. Even when faced with such prices, one might feel compelled to buy, as waiting will only lead to higher costs (unless the condition is poor).
I'm often asked about bag maintenance (ᐢ.ˬ.ᐢ). I include small notes with detailed care instructions inside the bag, so don't worry. My personal habit is to give them a once-over when I'm organizing my closet during seasonal changes (which makes each seasonal change a major undertaking...|||). Pre-owned bags aren't particularly troublesome; once you're accustomed to regular maintenance and cherishing your bag, it becomes second nature. The materials of pre-owned bags are inherently excellent. As long as they are not used roughly and are properly stored, they can easily last another decade and be passed down to your daughter! Every pre-owned bag I collect is one I genuinely love, and I hope you will too, and that it will be preserved for years to come ☪︎ *.。
