This coarse red clay offers a wonderfully rustic feel and a comforting warmth unique to earthenware. After being shaped on the potter's wheel, it was gently pressed from both sides to create a bowl with soft, inviting curves. The glaze has a smooth, matte finish and develops a deep, forest-green hue. The piece exudes a warm and cozy atmosphere, allowing you to feel the earthy character of the clay. With its substantial depth, this bowl can comfortably hold a variety of dishes, from rice and noodle dishes to stir-fries and stews. All stages of production, from kneading the clay to shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are meticulously done by hand in my home studio, equipped with a small electric kiln and a potter's wheel. While mass production is not possible, each piece possesses its own unique character, offering the distinct charm of handmade craftsmanship. To address this, all our pottery undergoes a waterproofing treatment with a food-safe sealant before shipping, eliminating the need for initial soaking (mejime). This treatment requires 2-3 days, hence our shipping timeframe of 5 days from order placement. If you prefer not to have the waterproofing treatment applied, please inform us at the time of purchase. - The color may appear lighter and whiter under fluorescent or natural morning light, and take on a warmer, yellowish tone under evening light or incandescent bulbs. - Product images are edited and shot to be as true to the actual item as possible. However, please be aware that colors may appear differently depending on your monitor settings and ambient lighting conditions. - As this item is also sold on other platforms, in the event of overlapping purchases, priority will be given to the customer who completes the purchase process first.
