**■ Original Price: NT$6,000, Early Bird Discount: NT$4,800.** **■ Course Duration: Four sessions, total 10 hours.** **■ Location: Ding Ai Culture, Daocheng Branch (2F, No. 21, Lane 239, Nanjing West Road, Datong District, Taipei City)** **■ Schedule: August 4th (Tue), August 11th (Tue), August 18th (Tue), August 25th (Tue) | 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM** **In this class, we will explore a significant and profound aspect of Taiwanese culture that is often taken for granted and rarely discussed: how emotions are expressed and felt through food.** **We often hear the phrase, "Have you eaten yet?" Many times, this isn't a literal question about hunger, but rather a way to express concern. This unique form of emotional expression is prevalent in Taiwan. Looking back, it seems that from childhood to adulthood, our parents' care and warmth were often conveyed through everyday meals: whether it was catching up at the dinner table or preparing a packed lunch with love. When it comes to food, there's always a certain warmth.** https://www.dace.com.tw/wp-content/smush-webp/2023/06/%E7%95%B6%E6%99%82%E6%99%82%E5%85%89-%E5%85%A7%E5%AE%B9%E5%9C%961_comp.jpg.webp "This is the taste of mom," "This is the taste of a breakup," "This is the taste of staying up late working..." Regardless of the context, food connects us to many unforgettable memories. We express care for others through meals, share our recent experiences during them, and whether they were happy or sad, these moments are etched deeply into our hearts. Through these foods, we directly feel the intentions of others, intertwined with a myriad of emotions and feelings. For many, "expressing emotions" can be difficult, and **food has silently become a bridge for us to convey our feelings.** Through this course, we will discover: **how food serves as a silent yet deeply loving way to express emotions.** Let us embark on this journey of exploration together, seeking and feeling the warmth and love in our memories, and transforming them into strength. https://www.dace.com.tw/wp-content/smush-webp/2023/06/%E7%95%B6%E6%99%82%E6%99%82%E5%85%89-%E5%85%A7%E5%AE%B9%E5%9C%962_comp.jpg.webp __**Course Content**__ https://www.dace.com.tw/wp-content/smush-webp/2023/06/%E7%95%B6%E9%A3%9F%E9%A3%9F%E5%85%89-%E7%AB%A0%E7%AF%80%E5%9C%96-1_comp.jpg.webp There are moments in life when we taste a certain food and it feels incredibly familiar, suddenly bringing back a memory or a person. The stimulus that food provides is unique and swift; beyond the sensory experience, it **evokes inner memories.** In this class, we will embark on a journey into cherished memories, uncovering beautiful moments hidden within our recollections by sharing foods that have left a lasting impression on us. https://www.dace.com.tw/wp-content/smush-webp/2023/06/%E7%95%B6%E9%A3%9F%E9%A3%9F%E5%85%89-%E7%AB%A0%E7%AF%80%E5%9C%96-2_comp.jpg.webp "Have you eaten?" is a common way we start a conversation to show concern. When we return home, we often feel our parents' care directly through the food they prepare, whether it's a meticulously simmered chicken soup meant to nourish us, or a favorite dish they made an effort to buy because they knew we loved it. This class will allow students to feel, through sharing memories related to specific foods, **how food quietly becomes a loving way to express emotions.** https://www.dace.com.tw/wp-content/smush-webp/2023/06/%E7%95%B6%E9%A3%9F%E9%A3%9F%E5%85%89-%E7%AB%A0%E7%AF%80%E5%9C%96-3_comp.jpg.webp Food possesses a magical power! When we feel down, happy, or angry, our cravings change. Food can quickly shift our mood. The moment we think, "How can this be so delicious!" our negative emotions are temporarily soothed. **The happiness food brings is pure; it can instantly separate us from our previous state.** https://www.dace.com.tw/wp-content/smush-webp/2023/06/%E7%95%B6%E9%A3%9F%E9%A3%9F%E5%85%89-%E7%AB%A0%E7%AF%80%E5%9C%96-4_comp.jpg.webp Through eating, we can often directly observe: **how we treat ourselves?** Do we rush through meals due to lack of time, or do we understand what we need in the moment? In our final session, we will reflect on our eating habits as a way to understand our attitude towards ourselves. **This is not just a learning experience, but a warm journey to embrace your own needs**, with the hope that students will find their own moments of gentle self-care. __**What You Will Gain:**__ **1. Awaken Inner Emotions:** Reflect on how loved ones expressed their feelings through food and rediscover the depth of your connections with those you care about. **2. Deeper Self-Understanding:** Your eating habits reveal how you treat yourself. To connect with your true self, start by being kind to yourself. **3. Enhance Life's Quality:** After working hard and living earnestly, we often wish to savor delicious food together as a reward! **4. Infuse Deeper Meaning:** Food can evoke thoughts of a person, a memory, or even a feeling of warmth. Revisit those moments to embrace that warmth, and in the present, cherish your loved ones and empower each other. __**This Course Welcomes You If:**__ ■ You are passionate about food or have a strong connection to it. You screenshot or document delicious finds; you travel far for your favorite dishes; you spend time searching for excellent eateries; you take friends and family to try food you love; or you invest time in understanding the background and culture of food... and so on. ■ You believe food brings motivation! You've experienced feeling down, but eating something made the world seem better, or it made you feel more energetic and happy. ■ You have a clear idea of what you want to eat, believing "whatever" is not an option. When others discuss where to eat, you're the one with ideas or who can offer various choices. ■ You express emotions through food, or have received emotional expressions through food. You might buy small treats or drinks to cheer someone up, or you've received such gestures from others. ■ You wish to understand the connection between food, emotions, and memories, and are willing to spend time contemplating its meaning. You believe food is more than just sustenance; it connects personal or shared memories, feelings, and even emotions. https://www.dace.com.tw/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/%E7%95%B6%E9%A3%9F%EF%BC%8C%E9%A3%9F%E5%85%89-%E8%AA%B2%E7%A8%8B%E7%85%A7%E7%89%8710.jpg https://www.dace.com.tw/wp-content/smush-webp/2023/06/%E7%95%B6%E9%A3%9F%EF%BC%8C%E9%A3%9F%E5%85%89-%E8%AA%B2%E7%A8%8B%E7%85%A7%E7%89%877.jpg.webp __**How the Course Will Unfold:**__ ★ The overall atmosphere will be relaxed and enjoyable, encouraging personal sharing and interaction. ★ You are welcome to bring food associated with your memories to share, but we will be sharing stories, not the food itself.
