Therefore, __regularly cleansing your crystals is essential__. It is recommended to establish a routine for cleansing your crystals, perhaps on the first day of each month or during the full moon (the 15th day of the lunar calendar). There are numerous methods for cleansing crystals, with detailed explanations available in books and online. While soaking in saltwater is a commonly mentioned method, some crystals and metals are quite delicate and can be damaged by salt or water. For this reason, Joyce personally does not highly recommend the saltwater method. If you have clear quartz or amethyst chips, a geode, or a cluster, you can place your pendulum inside or on top of them when not in use. Of course, the cleansing chips, geodes, and clusters themselves should also be cleansed regularly, perhaps through sun exposure or moonlight. Joyce finds __smudging purification__ to be the most effective method! You can light palo santo, dried cedar leaves, dried sage leaves, or incense, and **use the smoke to cleanse the crystal**.
