INSTRUCTION MANUAL ON ENGLISH CREATED BY GEOKUBANOID FOR SOVIET ZENIT-3 SLR FILM CAMERA ABOUT ITEM'S ORIGIN (You can SKIP it!) The first post-WW2 Soviet ZENIT SLR camera was introduced in 1952, and it was based at Zorki-1 RF camera, in turn based at pre-WW2 FED camera, and in turn — at Leica-IId camera. It was necessary to change the optical registration (from 28.8 to 45.2 mm) and to add mirror mechanism, but a lot of parts were same with Zorki RF cameras to reduce manufacturing expenses. Thus we can say that old ZENIT and ZENIT-S cameras are “SLR Leica copies”. ZENIT-3 camera was introduced in 1960 at the base of previous ZENIT-S camera. All main features like shutter speeds, lens mount and reflex mirror which lowered with cocked shutter only, were same with previous ZENIT-S cameras. New features were shutter cocking lever, self-timer and Helios-44 fast lens (based at Carl Zeiss Biotar scheme). Some cameras were issued with Vega-1 and Industar-50 lenses. Bottom film loading and reflex mirror lowered with string were preserved. ZENIT-3 was very popular because it was very reliable camera which brought fine photos to a lot of people. A total of 81776 ZENIT-3 cameras were produced at KMZ (town of Krasnogorsk) plant from 1960 to 1962 years. One man bought good ZENIT-3 from Me and after receiving the camera wrote the message just because he didn't knew how it should works: "...There is darkness in viewfinder, I disconnect the lens and don't see the mirror, is this camera SLR and in working condition?" Other problem with bottom loaded cameras is a special rules of film loading, a lot of people attempted to use same cameras with modern films, but without success.
