Pure Hand Stitching Our products are entirely hand-stitched, eschewing the use of sewing machines. Before stitching, specialized diamond chisels are used to create precise holes in the leather, ensuring the signature wavy stitch pattern that distinguishes our work from machine-sewn items. While this significantly extends production time, it is a crucial step where leather artisans imbue each piece with soul and a warm, tactile quality. 3. Hand-Burnished Edges The final step before completion is the meticulous burnishing and sealing of the leather edges. To achieve a smooth, rounded, and natural finish, "Cut Line" employs a proprietary edge-finishing method. This involves repeatedly sanding the edges with sandpaper until smooth, followed by applying a layer of edge sealant for a flat appearance. This process is repeated 2-3 times, then a layer of edge wax is applied, and finally, a burnishing tool is used to rub the edges until they achieve a polished, smooth finish. 4. Hand-Dyed Leather For our hand-dyed items, "Cut Line" uses imported Fiebing's leather alcohol dyes from the United States. To ensure a uniform and natural coloration, we begin by slightly dampening the leather surface. Then, using a sponge, the dye is applied repeatedly, gradually building from light to deep tones until the desired color is achieved. Once dry, a color-setting agent is applied to enhance colorfastness. Finally, a light application of water is used to wipe the surface, removing any dust and further evening out the color. As each piece is hand-dyed, subtle variations in color exist between individual bags, making each one truly unique.
