The pen body is crafted from meticulously selected high-density sandalwood, naturally formed and turned. Its color leans towards red-black, with a unique crafting process that results in a dazzling sheen and a high-definition, high-gloss surface finish. The high-definition, high-gloss process involves repeatedly applying clear lacquer and polishing until the pores formed over years in the wood grain are completely filled. This requires dozens of applications of lacquer. This technique creates a flatter surface, enhancing the writing feel and making the exquisite wood grain appear more three-dimensional and distinct. It also makes the surface easier to maintain, protecting the wooden pen body from accidental ink stains. However, this process incurs higher costs. Both the high-definition high-gloss and standard finishes have their own charm, catering to different tastes. The high-definition high-gloss finish resembles the luster of premium wood trim in luxury cars – it's mirror-like and offers a distinct, substantial feel in hand. Most pens on the market are simply polished or waxed after turning; this level of meticulous processing is exceptionally rare (natural grain, high-quality, randomly selected). This pen model is complemented by accessories crafted from solid brass, finished with gray chrome plating. It features a rotating airtight cap and a specially designed flexible clip. This model is available with two nib options: the Standard Calligraphy Titanium Tip and the Special Calligraphy Titanium Tip. The Standard Calligraphy Titanium Tip utilizes a German Bock #250 (#6) standard titanium nib, handcrafted and adjusted by Laoshan Goat artisans to produce line variations reminiscent of a brush pen. It offers a unique writing feel with more elasticity than standard steel nibs. The Laoshan Goat Special Calligraphy Titanium Tip (ground and adjusted from an EF nib) is a custom nib specially requested from the German manufacturer, model #250 (#6). It is then handcrafted and adjusted by Laoshan Goat artisans to create a calligraphy nib capable of producing line variations with the distinctive charm of a brush pen. Compared to the standard version, it offers even greater elasticity, allowing for richer strokes. The nib is engraved with the 3952 Yushan characteristic logo, making it a collectible piece. Hand-adjusted Calligraphy Nibs: 1. For calligraphy nibs, it is generally recommended to first dip the nib in ink and break it in for a period before using a converter. 2. If you experience skipping with a converter, check your grip angle. Ensure both iridium points touch the paper simultaneously; avoid writing on one side. If skipping persists, check the nib for paper fibers or debris. 3. Try priming the ink by removing the converter and gently rocking the pen. 4. Rinse the nib. If the iridium points are unevenly contacting the paper or if excessive pressure is applied, it can cause misalignment of the iridium points, leading to scratching and paper debris accumulation in the nib slit. 5. Calligraphy nibs are adjusted from EF nibs to have a curved tip. Line variation is achieved not by pressing down, but by the angle of the pen. Holding the pen more upright reduces the contact area with the paper, producing finer lines. The more oblique the writing angle, the larger the contact area, resulting in thicker lines. The ability to write thick or thin lines depends on your proficiency and skill. The Special Calligraphy Titanium Tip is a custom-made titanium nib requested from the German manufacturer by Laoshan Goat, engraved with the 3952 Yushan logo. Its flexibility is softer and more elastic than standard titanium nibs, but it is less forgiving. The soft, elastic nature of the special nib can induce users to press down, and if the technique is not right, it can lead to ink flow interruption. If the user's grip angle is incorrect or they haven't fully accustomed themselves to the special nib's characteristics, it can cause a temporary separation between the nib and the feed, disrupting ink flow to match the writer's speed, thus causing skipping. If the user's grip angle is off and they also apply pressure, it can distort the ink channel, hindering ink flow. Therefore, this nib is more elastic and harder to control. It is recommended to first gain proficiency with steel nibs or standard titanium nibs before advancing to the special calligraphy titanium nib.
