<A unique beauty that brings you happiness>
In the past, when people living in Watari, Miyagi Prefecture, gave gifts, they would place them in a "bag" made from leftover scraps of old kimonos. For example, it might have been a liter of rice given as a celebration or a return gift. There was no set name, and "fukuro" (bag) was slurred into "fuguro."
"FUGURO" is a reproduction and remake of this traditional custom. The materials are kimono fabrics with auspicious patterns, carefully selected from thousands of pieces sleeping in chests. Each piece is meticulously crafted by hand, with a wish for the happiness of the person who holds it.
We deliver a unique beauty that brings you happiness, by sewing the spirit of gratitude into our products, embodying the elegant custom of wrapping and gifting precious items.
We use two colors of thread to match the colors of the outer and inner fabrics. Please enjoy the beautiful stitching that is pleasing to everyone's eyes.
<Japanese Gifts>
As the material is kimono fabric, a symbol of Japanese culture, our products are also taken overseas as souvenirs from Japan or given as gifts to foreign visitors. They are compact and convenient to carry. We include product descriptions in both Japanese and English.
<Symbols of Happiness: Auspicious Patterns>
Auspicious patterns, which are considered good omens and "symbols of happiness," offer a glimpse into the profound depths of Japanese culture passed down from ancient times.
<Goshoguruma (Imperial Carriage) Pattern> "Success in life and career," "Wealth and prosperity"
In the Heian period, the Goshoguruma, pulled by oxen, was used by aristocrats when going out. There were various types depending on rank, and they were beautifully decorated. The Goshoguruma symbolized the world of Genji.
<Ume (Plum Blossom) Pattern> "Prayer for passing exams," "Academic achievement," "Prayer for safe childbirth"
It was believed that Tenjin-sama, the god of learning, resided within plum seeds, and plum blossoms have been treated similarly to the god of scholarship.
<Kiku (Chrysanthemum) Pattern> "Longevity," "Prayer for rejuvenation," "Prayer for good health"
Chrysanthemums were believed to have anti-aging properties and were used medicinally. They are considered the king of a hundred herbs and a symbol of longevity.
<Matsu (Pine) Pattern> "Longevity," "Marital harmony"
The pine tree, with its reputed lifespan of a thousand years, symbolizes longevity, and its evergreen leaves represent purity, making the pine a tree of good omen.
<Take (Bamboo) Pattern> "Longevity," "Improvement in skills," "Prosperity of descendants"
Bamboo, with its rapid growth and vigorous vitality, is believed to embody wishes for the healthy growth of children.
<Versatile Uses>
Use it as a bag-in-bag, or as a small pouch for keys and supplements. Use it as a sorting bag within your travel trunk. Stylishly store your wallet, glasses, keys, and other precious items for a quick trip to the store. It can also be displayed as interior decor in your living room. Thinking about how to use it is a delightful experience. It can be enjoyed for various purposes depending on the user's ideas. It can be used as a reversible item.

<Notes on Purchase>
*Please understand that as all items are handmade, each piece is unique and may vary slightly in size, shape, and pattern.
*Very rarely, if we obtain kimono fabric in excellent condition, we may produce multiple items from the same fabric. Please understand that the pattern may appear slightly different from the photo depending on the cutting position of the fabric.
*Please note that the color and texture may appear different from the actual product due to screen settings. If you have any concerns, please contact us or refrain from purchasing.
*As the kimono fabrics used as materials are often used and their composition is not specified, we often cannot identify the exact material. We thoroughly inspect and process the fabrics, including washing, before remaking them. Please handle with care, as some fabrics may fade or shrink when wet.
*As we also sell on other sites, please forgive us if the item is out of stock.
