The surface has a warm, frosted luster that becomes brighter with wear, developing a patina.** The manufacturing process involves repeatedly grinding cinnabar into fine particles to form a paste, mixing it with water, and then collecting the upper "cloudy liquid" after settling. This is followed by further settling to purify the cinnabar (the water-flying method). The resulting cinnabar mud at the bottom is air-dried and then pressed using ancient methods. Even when cut, fine, uniform mineral sparkle particles can be seen internally. **「Emperor Sand」** **A more vibrant true red with higher hardness.** The manufacturing process begins with raw cinnabar ore and involves multiple stages of purification such as crushing, grinding, magnetic separation, water-flying, and high polishing, before being pressed using ancient methods. Emperor Sand has almost no external mineral sparkle, but possesses it internally. "丹" is an ideogrammatic character. Ancient miners dug wells to extract minerals, so the character "丹" is essentially the character "井" (jǐng, well) with a dot in the middle, signifying the extraction of something from a dug well – this something is cinnabar. Because cinnabar is red, often a deep red, "朱" (zhū) also means red. Later, "丹砂" (dān shā) became known as "朱砂" (zhū shā). "丹" and "朱" describe the color, while "砂" describes the shape, referring to irregularly shaped mineral particles. The color of cinnabar is enduring. Chinese calligraphy and painting are referred to as "丹青" (dān qīng), where "丹" signifies cinnabar. It is also an indispensable component of "eight-treasure ink paste," whose main ingredient is cinnabar.
