Autumn and winter are perhaps everyone's favorite seasons (at least, they're my favorite XD). You can wear coats, hats, and scarves. Scarves are definitely my favorite autumn/winter accessory. Even though I already have many in my wardrobe, I still buy new ones every year! Since falling into the vintage rabbit hole, besides bags and small accessories, I also keep an eye out for scarves. This is because designs from the past are more timeless, and the prices are invariably more affordable than modern pieces... Unfortunately, finding a vintage scarf that is in good condition and well-preserved is definitely harder than finding a bag! After all, textiles are more difficult to maintain in good condition than leather. Therefore, I can only acquire a few vintage scarves each year... So, if you're looking for a vintage scarf, don't hesitate if you find one you like, as it's almost impossible to find the same style or color again. ⚐⚑˒˒ This is an Italian-made pure wool shawl scarf, lightweight and incredibly soft! It's not too thick, making it suitable for the climate in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Made in Italy, it's a navy blue that can be used by both men and women. It features a double-sided embroidered design, with contrasting colors on the reverse, so both sides can be used! The entire scarf is covered in the iconic CC Triomphe pattern! The brand's original content tag is still attached. It shows only minor signs of use and is very clean! There are no noticeable snags, loose threads, or discoloration issues, nor any pilling. It's a very easy-to-match navy blue. As you know, regular brand scarves are not cheap, and CELINE no longer offers simple styles like this in special colors. Each scarf style is unique and available only once. Once sold, it will not be restocked. I only manage to acquire a few pieces each year... Most pre-owned items from the past were ✦ handmade, imbued with the warmth of craftsmanship before the era of mass production. The craftsmanship of major brands is many times more meticulous than machines; every step is exquisitely detailed! However, most modern production processes now involve machinery with manual assembly. Machine-made components lack the same level of detail. The most direct way to see this is by comparing the monogram patterns of recent brand revivals with those of older vintage pieces. The level of detail in the monogram patterns alone is vastly different. If you love monograms, you must seek out pre-owned items! Truly! In terms of style, designs from older eras were more ✦ simple, timeless, and enduring. Many current new designs are actually revivals of older styles. Yet, new models are priced higher than vintage ones. Furthermore, new designs are typically based on or modified from older styles. Ultimately, the designs become more complex than those of the past. I believe as we mature, we all understand one thing: simplicity endures!! The material quality of older pieces is also superior to newer ones. If you understand ✦ leather, you'll see it. The materials used in new items are often inferior to those in older pieces. This is mainly because the cost and availability of high-quality raw materials are much higher now, and brands back then had very high standards for their finished products. The difference between new and old is most easily seen in the ✦ hardware. The hardware on many new bags oxidizes and discolors after just a year or two of use. However, vintage pieces typically do not, not only due to superior materials and meticulous craftsmanship but also because hardware from earlier eras was plated with real K gold! So, even bags produced in the 60s and 70s still have gleaming hardware today! Among the brands I know, none of the new bags available today use K gold for their hardware. Many say that vintage bags are a form of alternative investment, rarely depreciating and often appreciating in value. This is because the market for pre-owned bags in good condition is shrinking, with fewer available each day. Consequently, prices only increase. Moreover, certain brands periodically increase their prices, and each increase drives up the market price for pre-owned items. Additionally, with the recent popularity of vintage items among Japanese and Korean celebrities, the price of a style can skyrocket once a celebrity is seen using it. Or, if a brand releases its own modified revival of a style, the price of that style, and even similar ones, will surge! Therefore, vintage is truly a case of "buy early, enjoy longer; buy late, pay more" (this isn't an advertising slogan... it's the truth in the vintage world...). This is based on personal experience; I regret not entering the vintage world sooner for many collections. I can't find them now, and even if I could, the price is astronomical. For pre-owned bag orders, I will include a complimentary leather care oil (ᐢ.ˬ.ᐢ). I use it myself, so I'll share a small portion in a container as a gift. Apply a small amount to genuine leather for cleaning and to add moisture, but it's not necessary after every use. You only need to do it periodically. I usually take the opportunity to care for my bags when I'm organizing my closet during seasonal changes (which makes seasonal changes quite an undertaking... |||). The leather of pre-owned bags is already excellent. As long as they are not used roughly and are stored properly, they can easily last another ten years and be passed down to your daughter!
