Single Flower Vase with Blue and Matte Glaze Variation

This is a single-flower vase, crafted on a potter's wheel with a coarse red clay that evokes the warmth of ceramic. Its form is inspired by the expanding oval shapes of raindrops and eggs. A light blue glaze is applied to the upper portion, while a white matte glaze adorns the lower part. Where the two glazes meet, the earth tones unexpectedly emerge, resulting in a vase with a subtle, sophisticated hue. It is said that blue ceramics pair beautifully with colors such as white, yellow, and pink. Enjoy coordinating its colors with various botanicals like baby's breath, statice, craspedia, or rose hips. The creation process takes place in my home studio, equipped with an electric potter's wheel and a medium-sized electric kiln. Every step, from wedging the clay to forming, trimming, drying, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, is meticulously done by hand. Due to the porous nature of ceramics, a waterproofing agent has been applied to the interior. This treatment has been tested to prevent water seepage for approximately 40 hours. However, there is a possibility that some evaporated moisture may slightly dampen the base. If this is a concern, placing a fabric coaster underneath can ensure peace of mind during use. I explore various glazes and clays, constantly seeking the best combinations to create ceramic pieces in diverse colors and forms. Each piece is unique, and it is impossible to replicate them exactly; they are similar, yet each is a one-of-a-kind creation.
