Each created piece possesses a unique concept and design. The process of pure hand-building or wheel-throwing imbues the works with life, making each piece one-of-a-kind. Our pottery is a collaboration between my husband and I, hence the marks of "Ping" or "Fan." Some pieces also bear the "Little Ordinary Pottery" stamp. What is the wood-firing process?** American clay, Japanese clay, and Miaoli clay are mixed in different proportions. The creation process involves pure hand-building (not on a pottery wheel) to slowly form the shape. After basic shaping, the body's lines are refined, then polished to complete the greenware. Once in the kiln, it undergoes a continuous five-day, four-night wood-firing process using natural longan wood and acacia wood. The temperature reaches over 1200 degrees Celsius. During this time, natural ash deposits onto the work, forming a special ash glaze. Simultaneously, fire marks from within the kiln flow around the pieces, creating beautiful orange-red or blue-purple fire patterns. After five days and four nights of ash and fire marks intertwined, a week of cooling is required for each piece to achieve its beautiful form! What should esteemed guests be aware of?** Product colors may vary slightly due to photographic lighting. As the works are purely handmade, they will inevitably show traces of the crafting process. Slight variations may also occur due to the firing process, such as an imperfect rim or minor firing scratches, which are considered normal and do not affect usability.
