Dabajianshan Venture into the depths of forests and valleys, exploring the wisdom of life's cycles. Dabajianshan is a sacred mountain for the Atayal and Saisiyat peoples, the dwelling place of ancestral spirits. The Atayal call it "papak waqa," where "papak" means ear. Due to its shape resembling an ear, it is also referred to as "the mountain that listens to divine will." The continuous mountain ridges from Dabajianshan to Xue Mountain are known in the mountaineering community as the "Xueshan-Daba Line" or the "Sacred Mountain Ridge." The name "Sacred Mountain Ridge" originates from Tetsutaro Numa, a Japanese individual who compiled the "History of Taiwan Mountaineering" during the Japanese colonial era. In 1927, he climbed Dabajianshan, and the following year, in an article titled "An Investigation and Execution of Climbing Dabajianshan," he wrote: "...Oh, this sacred ridge! Who can truly complete the traverse from Dabajianshan to Xue Mountain, wear the crown of victory, and recount the truth and beauty of the first successful traverse..." Numa's heartfelt exclamation not only named this mountain range but also made it a route that has since attracted countless mountain lovers dreaming of visiting.
