In this gray world, where do we find the standards of good and evil?
During campus sexual assault incidents, a student once sought help from a teacher.
The teacher replied, "If I help you, who will help me?"
The principal added, "It has already happened; perhaps the child should just get married."
When helping others could cause personal trouble,
especially in this fast-paced world where messages vanish in an instant.
Would you still be willing to pause and extend a hand?
When you decide to help,
do you find that this world has too many gray areas?
Evil can make us angry and disgusted, but what's most difficult is when good and evil are unclear.
The perpetrator is also a victim.
Because they were sexually assaulted, they sexually assault others.
Trying to help the victim inadvertently fuels the forces of evil.
A teacher assisting a victim to return to campus
provides the perpetrator an opportunity to assault the victim again.
In 8 years, 164 such incidents occurred,
a staggering number of group sexual assaults and harassment cases between teachers and students.
Sometimes, a child's malice can be more terrifying than an adult's,
because they don't know where the line is.
Where is this line?
When God first created us, we were inherently good.
It was only after we ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil
that "evil" emerged. Thus, we have good within evil and evil within good.
But importantly, Jesus gave us the "Ten Commandments"
to help us overcome evil with good.
The Ten Commandments address the human heart.
We must examine the motives behind everything we do.
And the final commandment, "covetousness," is the root of the sixth to ninth commandments.
In a gray world where good and evil are hard to distinguish,
making a choice is actually easy because He has already given us direction.
Are there standard answers for good and evil?
We do not have the right to judge others,
but we have a direction to follow.
"When you have light, believe in the light, so that you may become children of light." Yet there is a little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you. The one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going.
