Autumn and winter are perhaps everyone's favorite seasons (at least, they're my favorite XD), allowing for cozy outerwear, hats, and scarves. Scarves are absolutely my favorite fall/winter accessory. Even with a closet full, I find myself buying a new one every year! Ever since I fell into the vintage rabbit hole, besides bags and small accessories, I've also kept an eye out for scarves. This is because vintage styles are generally more timeless, and the prices are always more affordable than modern pieces... However, it's unfortunate that finding a vintage scarf in good condition, with excellent color, is actually much harder than finding a bag! After all, textiles are more delicate than leather and harder to maintain. So, the vintage scarves I manage to acquire each year are usually only a handful... Therefore, if you're looking for a vintage scarf, seize the opportunity when you find one, as finding the exact same style/color again is highly unlikely. ⚐⚑˒˒ This is an Italian-made pure wool shawl scarf. It's lightweight yet made from fine wool, not overly thick, making it suitable for the climate in Taiwan and Hong Kong. Made in Italy, it features a dual-color design: khaki x deep blue, usable on both sides! These cool-toned colors are suitable for anyone, regardless of gender! The entire scarf is adorned with the iconic Arc de Triomphe pattern! While it is a pre-owned item, its condition is generally good. This particular scarf has a few minor snags, but they are not noticeable when worn around the neck. You can simply trim them directly if you wish, rather than pulling. Because of these minor imperfections, this scarf is priced more affordably, and the flaws are not apparent during wear. Aside from this, the scarf shows no signs of discoloration, dye transfer, pilling, or other issues. Its condition is good, and it retains its original Celine tag. As we all know, branded scarves are typically not inexpensive, and simple styles with distinctive colors like this are no longer offered by Celine. Most pre-owned items from previous decades were handmade, imbued with the warmth of craftsmanship before the prevalence of machinery. The artisanal skill of master craftsmen at major brands is many times more refined than what machines can achieve, with every step meticulously perfected! However, nowadays, many processes are automated by machinery and then assembled by hand. Machine-made components lack the same level of detail. A direct and clear comparison can be made by examining the iconic logos of recently reissued designs versus those from older vintage pieces. The level of detail in the logos alone reveals a significant difference. If you appreciate intricate patterns, vintage is the way to go! Truly! In terms of style, older designs tend to be simpler, more classic, and timeless. Many current new designs are actually reissues of older styles. Yet, new models are priced higher than vintage counterparts. Furthermore, new designs often build upon or modify older styles. The final designs tend to be more complex than their vintage predecessors. As you grow older, you likely understand one thing: simplicity endures! The quality of raw materials in older pieces is superior to newer ones. Anyone knowledgeable about leather can discern this; the materials used in many new items are of a lower grade than in vintage pieces. This is primarily because the cost and scarcity of premium raw materials have increased, and brands back then had very high standards for their finished products. The difference between new and old can be most readily seen in the hardware. The hardware on many new items can oxidize and discolor after just a year or two of use. However, vintage pieces typically do not suffer this fate. In addition to the use of high-quality materials and meticulous craftsmanship, hardware from earlier eras was often plated with genuine K-gold! This is why even vintage bags produced in the 60s and 70s still retain their brilliant shine today! Among the new products available now, to my knowledge, none of the major brands use K-gold for their hardware. Many people consider vintage bags a unique form of investment; they rarely depreciate and often appreciate in value. This is because the number of pre-owned bags in excellent condition in the market is diminishing, with fewer available each year, making them increasingly valuable. Moreover, certain brands periodically increase their prices, and each increase influences the market value of vintage pieces. Additionally, with the recent popularity of vintage items among celebrities in Japan and Korea, the price of a specific model can skyrocket after being seen on a celebrity. Or, if a brand releases their own revamped reissue, the price of that model, and even similar styles, can surge dramatically! Therefore, vintage is truly a case of "buy early, enjoy now; buy late, pay more" (this isn't an advertising slogan... it's a truth in the vintage world...). This is based on personal experience; I regret not entering the vintage world earlier for many collections. I can no longer find them, and even if I could, the prices are astronomical, making them unaffordable. As an extra bonus with pre-owned bag orders, you'll receive leather care oil (ᐢ.ˬ.ᐢ). I use it myself, so I've portioned some into small containers as a gift. Apply a small amount to genuine leather for cleaning and to enhance its suppleness, but it's not necessary after every use. Regular, periodic care is sufficient. I find it convenient to give the bags a little TLC when I'm organizing my closet at the turn of each season (which makes seasonal changes quite an undertaking... |||). The leather on pre-owned bags is inherently of excellent quality. As long as they are not used roughly and are properly stored, they can easily last another decade and even be passed down to your daughter!
