These creations embody not only exquisite needlework, patience, and focus, but more importantly, the preservation of the craft culture of the Kashmir region. The art of Pashmina embroidery has been passed down through generations in the region, with roots tracing back to the 15th century when the Persian saint Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani arrived in Kashmir. He brought with him 700 artisans who trained locals in various crafts, including what we know today as Pashmina. Pashmina is artfully crafted from [Himalayan goat cashmere], a process entirely done by hand, resulting in garments and accessories of exceptional quality. These precious goats reside in the Changthang region of Ladakh, India, at altitudes exceeding 14,000 feet (4,267 meters). Nature has blessed the Changtang goats with incredibly fine and precious cashmere, found on their undersides, necks, and other sensitive areas. This fiber is delicate, soft, and exceptionally warm. By the 18th century, Pashmina had captivated Europe, cherished by French nobility.
