Red Clay and White Matte Glaze Cup

Crafted from a coarse red clay, this piece allows you to enjoy the comforting warmth and earthy texture unique to ceramic clay. An off-white matte glaze imparts a subtle, natural hue. We have created a simple cup by combining these two elements. We aimed for a vessel with a clean, rounded form by making the foot slightly smaller. It is suitable for both Japanese tea and coffee. It can also be used for a small serving of soup. And as a dish for pudding or jelly. We hope you enjoy it with your favorite beverages or dishes. All processes, from kneading the clay to shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are done entirely by hand in my home studio, which is equipped with a small electric kiln and a potter's wheel. The plump, rounded form, the coarse texture, and the slight weight of the piece convey its ceramic nature. While mass production is not possible, each piece has its own unique character, and you can enjoy the distinctive charm that comes from being handmade. The item you receive will be the exact one shown in the product images. To minimize scratching your table, the base of the cup will be polished smooth before shipping. We are constantly exploring the best combinations of various glazes and clays, creating a diverse range of ceramics in different colors and shapes. Therefore, we treat our tableware with a water-stopping agent before shipping, so there is no need for initial sealing. As this water-stopping treatment requires 2-3 days, the period from order to shipment is set at 5 days.
