This Fuji Kiriko Vessel has been hand-carved by accomplished Kiriko craftsmen in the likeness of Mt. Fuji using the classic, traditional Edo techniques. With precise and elaborate cuts representing Mt. Fuji’s snow-covered peak, the Kiriko artisans are able to portray the colorful faces of Japan’s sacred mountain in the characteristic Kiriko colors of “ruri” (lapis lazuli blue), and “beni” (ruby red). The interior of the attractive, paulownia box is lined with pure white cotton, designed to represent the sea of clouds often covering this noble mountain.
