**A Photography Conceptual Renewal Movement Ignited in a Time of Profound Change** The April Photography Society, the first non-governmental, self-initiated youth photography group in China following the Cultural Revolution, launched three art photography exhibitions between the late 1970s and early 1980s. He graduated from Henan University of Science and Technology in 1978. From 1984 to 1988, he worked as a photographer at Beijing Advertising Corporation. In 1993, he initiated the Beijing Hutong Cultural Tour. In 2003, he launched the "Rebuild 798" art activity and is one of the key initiators of Beijing's 798 Art District. He served as a council member of the China Photographers Association. His representative photographic works include "101 Hutong Portraits," "Solutions," "18 Shades of Gray," "This Face," and "Negatives: Scans."
