A bracelet connecting vintage mandarin-shaped carnelian, Tuareg beads, cobalt blue beads, old Chin silver & Orissa brass, and old Indian silver charms.
The mandarin-shaped carnelian beads, featuring lovely ribbed details, are vintage beads from China.
Glass beads of this shape can also be found in Japanese Edo-dama (Japanese beads), China, and among the Naga people.
These carnelian beads have a charming, plump shape and are in excellent condition.
Their hand-carved nature results in slightly varied rib widths, adding to their unique appeal.
The color variations are beautiful and radiate warmth when held up to the light, showcasing the distinct banding characteristic of agate.
(Carnelian bead size: 0.7cm length, 0.9cm diameter)
The multifaceted beads with triangular and square patterns are metal beads from the Tuareg people, a nomadic tribe of the Sahara Desert in Africa.
The cobalt blue beads are antique beads from Venice.
These are lustrous, vibrantly colored, and captivating beads.
The slight variation in shape for each bead adds to their unique character! Some may show white areas.
The dull golden beads are old Orissa brass, antique brass beads from India.
These beads are quite rare and difficult to find nowadays!
The plump silver beads are exceptionally rare old Chin silver, dating from around the 18th-19th century. These were sourced from Burma.
They were used by the Chin people, particularly women, for necklaces and the like, showing unique wear and endearing marks from their history.
Their substantial weight and presence are incomparable to modern silver (though there are certainly stylish modern pieces...). These antique beads have seen a significant price increase in recent years.
The amber-colored beads are called White Hearts, distinguished by their white cores. Antique (19th-20th century) White Hearts are becoming truly scarce. They possess a rich, deep hue with attractive color variations.
The charm on the clasp is antique Indian silver, crafted between the 19th and early 20th century.
It's believed that frequent wear will bring out a unique patina.
The central motif depicts the god Shiva (or Bel).
(Size: 1.7cm length, 1.3cm width - including the loop)
Each small Karen silver bead on the clasp is individually stamped!
It's humbling to think that each one is handcrafted...
◇ Karen Silver ◇
This silver is crafted by a hill tribe living in Thailand and Burma.
Each piece is handmade, and the silver is said to have a very high purity.
Connected with waxed cord, it may feel slightly stiff initially but will become supple with wear.
