Red clay and white glaze rice bowl

Red china clay with a slightly rough and rustic texture typical of china clay. By applying a thin layer of glaze to the clay, white glaze creates a color gradation while taking advantage of the texture of the clay. This rice bowl was created by combining the two. Instead of using the electric furnace at home that I usually use, I fired it in the kerosene kiln of the pottery I am currently working with. It is fired using a method called reduction firing, which creates a lack of oxygen in the kiln during firing, allowing you to enjoy a rich flavor that cannot be produced with an electric furnace. The glaze used is also the pottery's original glaze, and has a color and texture that cannot be found anywhere else. Although it has the roughness typical of ceramics, its soft round form has a gentle feel to it. The colors and textures that give off the earthy flavor make the rice look even more delicious. It can be used not only for white rice but also for cooked rice. Enjoy it with seasonal ingredients. For production, I have a small electric furnace and an electric potter's wheel at home, and perform all processes by hand, from kneading the clay to shaping, unglazing, glazing, and final firing. Although mass production is not possible, each piece has its own unique expression and you can enjoy the taste of handmade products. The item you receive will be the same as the product image.
