NARUWAN: 3952 Lao Shanyuan - Our Beautiful Homeland, Grand & Elegant Writing Collection. Italian briarwood is commonly used in pipe making. Lao Shanyuan specifically selects the burl sections, offering a luster akin to fine car interior wood trim. However, briarwood inevitably has natural imperfections (knots), as it is harvested from the burl, so each piece will have them to some extent. The burls yield complex and exquisite patterns. Through numerous rounds of lacquering, sanding, and polishing, the feel is exceptionally substantial. Under the high-definition, high-gloss transparent lacquer, the texture is further enhanced. The high-definition, high-gloss finish is easy to maintain, resistant to ink or hand sweat, and makes the wood grain appear more three-dimensional. Most products on the market are simply polished or waxed raw wood; this kind of meticulous processing is rare (briarwood features unique knots and natural grain patterns; quality items shipped randomly). The fountain pen is complemented by gunmetal gray electroplated clips and metal fittings. It features a barrel-shaped, rotating, airtight cap design with a uniquely molded clip incorporating a special spring mechanism, making it delightful to hold and use.
This pen model is available with two types of nibs: the modified spring steel tip (Queyue knife) and the spring steel calligraphy tip, both ground from German JoWo #6 (WIN #12) flexible steel nibs.
The Queyue knife is crafted from a German JoWo #6 (WIN #12) flexible steel nib (F-tip), meticulously hand-ground and adjusted by Lao Shanyuan artisans into a knife-edge tip. It allows for subtle variations in line width, offering a more elastic writing feel than standard ground nibs. It's durable, pressure-resistant, and easy to master.
The spring steel calligraphy tip is created from a German JoWo #6 (WIN #12) flexible steel nib (EF-tip), expertly hand-shaped and adjusted by Lao Shanyuan artisans to produce varying line widths, reminiscent of traditional Chinese calligraphy brushes. It offers a unique writing experience, is durable, pressure-resistant, and easy for beginners to handle, making it an ideal introductory calligraphy nib.
**Set includes: German SCHMIDT K2 converter (ink not included) + One handmade black genuine leather pen sleeve by a Taiwanese master craftsman (style shipped randomly) + 3952 Lao Shanyuan wooden pen box packaging.**
Pen dimensions: Total length approximately 154mm, barrel plus grip section approximately 105mm, maximum diameter (excluding clip) approximately 17mm, total weight (excluding nib) approximately 44g.
Hand-ground and adjusted calligraphy nib:
1. For calligraphy nibs, it is recommended to start by dipping the nib in ink for writing (do not remove the converter installed in the barrel to prevent ink backflow into the pen body after writing). After a period of adjustment, use the converter for inking.
2. The calligraphy nib is an EF nib ground and adjusted to have a curved tip. Line width variation is achieved not solely by applying pressure, but by adjusting the pen's angle. Hold the pen more upright, and the contact area between the nib and paper is smaller, resulting in finer lines. The more the pen is angled or a slight pressure is applied, the larger the contact area, producing broader strokes. The ability to write thick or thin lines depends on your proficiency (each nib can withstand a certain amount of pressure; avoid excessive force to prevent damage or misalignment. It is advisable to place a writing pad under the paper when writing).
In response to environmental protection, we do not proactively provide paper bags. If you require one for gifting purposes, please specify this in the order notes after placing your order. Thank you.

Note: Regularly wipe and maintain the interior of the pen body and cap. When at rest, do not leave the nib facing downwards for extended periods.
Warm reminder: When writing, do not press down hard or write at an extreme left or right angle (for right-handed users, it is recommended to hold the pen with the nib pointing towards the 10 or 11 o'clock position) to avoid iridium point misalignment, scratching, or ink flow issues. Rinse the nib with clean water regularly to prevent ink buildup and blockages that may affect writing quality.
Warm reminder: The spring steel tip has a certain pressure tolerance. Begin writing with light pressure, then gradually test the nib's flexibility with slight force. Downward pressure can slightly spread the nib, while horizontal strokes should be made with a light touch. Avoid applying excessive or directionless pressure to prevent nib damage or misalignment.
Warm reminder: The spring steel calligraphy nib also has a certain pressure tolerance. Begin writing with light pressure, then gradually test the nib's flexibility with slight force. Avoid applying excessive or directionless pressure to prevent nib damage or misalignment.
