The safety issue has attracted much attention from passengers. The Star Ferry held two meetings with the Marine Department afterwards and added more than 10 lifebuoys (useful?) on each ferry before actively upgrading the lifesaving gear. In addition, in May 2016, there were also several media reports about the Ferry Company forcing away small merchants, but the Ferry Company also clarified on the company's website and Facebook that it did not force the other party to leave.
