Theme:『Elegy』 A heart that wishes to sink. Words that wish to be hidden. Wind that brings tears. Away from the sun, I am in the shadows. Gazing at the air where beautiful dust motes dance in the faint light, I perceive form. ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー The theme for the first collection from the OTUTUMI online shop is "Elegy." It embodies the "now" as felt by the designer. Everyone, to some extent, holds within them feelings of sadness or sorrow, secrets kept without sharing. These inner sentiments are expressed through "Elegy," which in Japanese translates to *aika*, *hike*, or *bannka* (songs of sadness, elegy, lament). The black *mizuhiki* (traditional Japanese paper cord) is typically used for condolence money envelopes in Japan and is not seen at celebratory occasions. However, for this collection, we have intentionally used only black, crafting the pieces not by "color," but to be perceived through "light" and "shadow." Although substantial in size, they are exceptionally lightweight. The design is inspired by lockets, pendants that can hold photographs or medication.
