RED TORNADO draws inspiration from the classic M-1943 Herringbone Twill (HBT) field trousers to introduce these M43 military pants. In 1943, the US Army introduced a new standardized field uniform, and the M-1943 trousers featured a loose, straight-leg design. This allowed soldiers to wear thermal undergarments in cold weather. The pants were made from olive drab HBT fabric with a herringbone weave, and the large pockets were designed for carrying tools, making them a classic US military standard issue pant from the latter half of World War II. The specifications for the Army HBT M43 trousers were P.Q.D. 42C. This version has higher pocket placements, characteristic of early M43 models; versions after 1944 lowered the side cargo pockets for easier access during combat. RED TORNADO's reproduction is based on an early 1943 model, retaining the higher pocket placement for a cleaner, more classic look. Additionally, a gas flap has been added inside the crotch for enhanced detail. HBT fabric was first used in US military clothing in 1941, replacing the denim workwear that had been in use since 1908. HBT fabric is more breathable and durable than denim. HBT is an abbreviation for Herringbone Twill: Herringbone refers to the fishbone pattern, and Twill indicates a diagonal weave. The overall structure presents a fishbone-like weave, and because the pattern resembles the Chinese character "人" (ren), it is often directly called "人字紋布" (ren zi wen bu) in Chinese. HBT offers high durability and good breathability, making it very suitable for wear in tropical climates.
