If you are particular about the current condition of the plant, feel free to message the designer for photos. 🔥🔥🔥 The Saint William cactus, also known as *Echinofossulocactus crispatus* or Saint William Ball, is a succulent plant belonging to the *Echinofossulocactus* genus within the Cactaceae family. It typically has a spherical shape and ranges in color from dark green to grayish-green. Mature plants often produce offsets, and they have fibrous root systems. The cactus usually has 2-8 spines, with tubercles attached to the ribs. The most distinctive feature of the Saint William cactus is its subtly fissured, ball-like body, resembling a *qingming tuanzi* (a type of traditional Chinese snack), with a few spines inserted. It generally has fewer ribs, with 5 ribs being its characteristic feature, though variations with 4 or 3 ribs exist. The fewer the ribs, the rarer and more precious it is, thus commanding a higher price. This particular specimen is a rare, seldom-seen four-ribbed variety, hence its slightly higher price. The most common form is the 5-ribbed variety. If it has more than 5 ribs, there's a higher probability it's a hybrid. | Care Tips | Provide full or partial sunlight for the Saint William cactus, placing it in a well-ventilated area and planting it in a well-draining medium. Summer is the growing season for the Saint William cactus; reduce watering or cease watering in winter. Plants in this genus (*Echinofossulocactus*) have a higher demand for fertilizer. It is recommended to provide ample fertilizer to promote growth. This genus roots well and grows vigorously. Offsets that branch out can be easily propagated from their side shoots. However, new species are often cultivated through seed sowing, with seedlings appearing in about 3-4 weeks. Some species may take 1-2 years to flower, and most cannot self-pollinate. Fruit develops well after manual pollination. In summer, during the growing season, keep the soil moist, provide partial shade, and enhance ventilation.
