Starting with a sketch, the clay is shaped and repeatedly refined as it dries. We carefully load the kiln to ensure even firing, a process that takes about a month. Bisque firing lasts for 7 hours, after which each piece is wiped with water and individually glazed before the final 12-hour firing. Some pieces may also receive a gold glaze and return to the kiln for another 7 hours. Due to the need for slow cooling, we wait about two days after each firing before removing the pieces from the kiln. Finally, each item is inspected by hand, and pins are attached to those deemed perfect. Currently, our success rate is around 70%. Although this process requires significant time and effort, the result is a decorative brooch that combines the tactile warmth of clay, the durability of pottery, the lustrous sheen of glaze, and the sparkle of gold accents. We believe this is a piece that can be cherished for a long time, unchanged.
