1950s French Vintage Nib Gilbert Multiplicateur N. 344 Dip Pen Nib

Produced by the French Gilbert & Blanzy-Poure pen factory in the 1950s. The Multiplicateur N. 344 is a specialized nib designed for extensive writing, particularly for manifold copying. To accommodate large volumes of writing, it is crafted from a special alloy, offering stability over flexibility. It resists scratching even with firm pressure, making it ideal for use with carbon paper (capable of writing through up to six sheets of white paper with five sheets of carbon paper). The nib features a strong ink capacity to enhance writing efficiency. Its non-scratching nature also makes it well-suited for Chinese calligraphy. It can also be used for drawing, producing lines of consistent thickness. However, it is not suitable for English calligraphy requiring variations in line width. Compared to the other manifold nib, the N. 348, this nib features a thicker metal alloy and a modified shape. It boasts enhanced ink delivery and writing stability, further optimizing it for extensive writing needs. Made from original metal (not plated), easy to start writing with, and requires no lengthy break-in period. Stronger ink capacity and comparatively more durable. Important Usage Precautions: 1. No pre-heating or scrubbing with a toothbrush is required before use. 2. Some nibs may have original horizontal or vertical marks on the shoulder from the factory; these were made before sale to ensure immediate usability and are not defects. 3. If oil contamination affects ink adhesion or flow (e.g., from touching with hands or wax on paper), simply wash gently with soap, rinse, and dry thoroughly before use. 4. Clean and dry the nib promptly after use. Allow it to air dry completely before storing to prevent rust. 5. Minor corrosion on the pen body will not affect writing; however, corrosion on the nib itself will impact its performance. Vintage/antique nibs are discontinued. All available units are new from collections, sold until stock lasts. Each item will be thoroughly inspected before shipment. Items with defects will not be dispatched.
