Prehnite is a secondary mineral formed through hydrothermal alteration, primarily found in the vesicles and fissures of basalt and other basic extrusive rocks. It often coexists with zeolites, datolite, calcite, and pectolite. Additionally, prehnite can form from the alteration of plagioclase feldspar within some igneous rocks.
Prehnite appears in white, green, yellow-green, and yellow varieties, with yellow-green being the most prized. Flawless specimens may be misrepresented as "ice jade" (a type of jadeite) or sold as green grossular garnet. While their appearances can be similar, their crystal structures are entirely different, so careful selection is advised. Green grossular garnet, with a hardness of 6.5, is a calcium-aluminum silicate and is characterized by fibrous amphibole inclusions, resembling asbestos fibers. Typically, green grossular garnet exhibits abundant fibrous or needle-like inclusions, which serve as a key identifier.

**Important Notes for Wearing Silver Jewelry for the First Time**
◮ Avoid wearing silver jewelry while bathing in hot springs or swimming. The salt in seawater and the acidity of rainwater can subtly corrode metal and cause oxidation. Sulfur in hot springs will also tarnish silver, leading to a blackening effect. If exposed to these substances, rinse the silver jewelry with clean water and dry it thoroughly.
◮ Human sweat, with its low pH of around 4, is a natural disinfectant for the skin. Prolonged contact can corrode metals and accelerate alloy oxidation. As our jewelry is not plated with other materials, it is more susceptible to corrosion and breakage if exposed to sweat. However, **not everyone's sweat will cause breakage. If you have had similar experiences, please exercise extra caution.** To maintain the brilliance of your silver jewelry, it is recommended to rinse and dry it after wearing, especially if it has come into contact with sweat, and to keep it dry.
◮ Products containing chemical additives can also cause silver jewelry to corrode.
Any product with chemical additives can accelerate the oxidation of jewelry.
Common examples include: skincare products, sunscreens, cosmetics, perfumes, essential oils, detergents, and chlorine in swimming pools.
If you habitually wear perfume, it is advisable to apply perfume first and then wear your jewelry, avoiding direct contact between the jewelry and the perfume.
◮ Cultivate good habits for usage and storage.
Taiwan's climate is humid, with relatively high air moisture. When not wearing the jewelry, be sure to wipe off any sweat or oils with a dry cloth. Store the jewelry in a ziplock bag to seal out air and maintain dryness. Store each piece separately to prevent friction and surface scratches.
◮ Regarding the oxidation of silver jewelry
925 sterling silver is prone to oxidation when exposed to air, turning yellow or black. This is a natural reaction of silver, similar to its reaction with hot spring water. Gently polishing with a silver polishing cloth will restore its original luster. However, in hard-to-reach areas like the crevices of a silver chain, oxidation may appear more pronounced, making the jewelry look slightly dark. The technique of antiquing or oxidizing silver involves deliberately oxidizing 925 sterling silver to create a rustic, aged, dark appearance. This deepens the contrast, enhancing the layered effect and appears more uniform and aesthetically pleasing than natural air oxidation. These areas do not require extra cleaning. Regular wear, allowing the jewelry's surface to gently rub against clothing, helps maintain its shine.
◮ About Us
To achieve the highest quality, each of our creations undergoes rigorous inspection, refinement, and polishing. We do not allow any porosity or flaws. To ensure structural integrity, our pieces are repeatedly forged and hammered, giving our silver jewelry a distinctive luster and texture.
Plated protective films have a high probability of peeling off with long-term wear, affecting both the environment and the wearer, and obscuring the natural luster of silver. Therefore, our pieces are never plated.
We dedicate significantly more time to the details. If you have the opportunity to purchase one of our creations, you will notice that its oxidation rate is considerably slower compared to most other silver products, and its luster is also unique.
We hope you find your one-of-a-kind piece here.
