(How could those people be so revolting, presenting themselves with pretentious pronouncements and conceptual jargon, without any genuine sketching experience?) Though drawn in sketchbooks, they were merely stacks of paper bound by metal rings. Naturally, only single pages were drawn, never across double-page spreads. It wasn't until I discovered charming handmade sketchbooks in a paper goods shop in Venice that I realized the profound significance of binding (and the injustice of being overlooked).
