Vegetable-tanned leather, as the name suggests, is tanned using **natural plant-based tannins**. This is the **oldest and most traditional tanning method**, utilizing plant tannins for preservation. A key characteristic of this leather is its initial **light, natural hue**. Over time, through exposure to sunlight, air, and moisture, it gradually deepens to a rich caramel or even darker shade, developing a beautiful patina that enhances its allure with use. The leather we select undergoes **no surface treatment**. Just like human skin, hides naturally exhibit **unique grain patterns and minor imperfections** from the animal's life. Surface treatments are akin to cosmetic applications, designed to conceal these natural features. Therefore, it's typically **leathers with significant imperfections that require surface finishing**. The leather is naturally abundant in oils, meaning **no additional conditioning or maintenance oils are typically required**. Furthermore, your skin secretes natural oils, making **frequent use of your leather item the best form of care**. If the leather becomes wet, simply allow it to **air dry naturally in the shade**. If prolonged exposure to moisture causes the leather to feel dry, you may apply a thin layer of leather conditioner sparingly. **Avoid using lotions or petroleum-based products**, as these can clog the leather's pores and potentially damage the item. For regular storage, keep your leather goods in a cool, well-ventilated area to prevent excessive humidity and mold growth. If mold appears, gently wipe the surface with a dry cloth to remove it.
