The legendary Japanese tale, *The Tale of Genji*, stands as one of the world's most profoundly significant cultural achievements. This thousand-year-old masterpiece, penned in the early 11th century by Lady Murasaki Shikibu to entertain Empress Shōshi, claims numerous literary firsts and is widely regarded as the world's first true novel. Through the Genji Series, Shoyeido is delighted to evoke the scenes of *The Tale of Genji* and its sublime aesthetic. "Yomo no Mizu," or "Water Ripples," is inspired by the "Sakaki" chapter of *The Tale of Genji*. These spiral incense coils are designed with a water-like pattern. "Yomo no Mizu" represents the waterways surrounding the ancient capital, harmoniously blending with the Four Divine Beasts of the cardinal directions: the Azure Dragon of the East, the Vermilion Bird of the South, the White Tiger of the West, and the Black Tortoise of the North.
