[Tian Qing Clay]
This clay was refined in 2007 and has been aged for 15 years.
The clay has undergone aging of organic matter and re-firing to prevent mud cracking. This process lowers the firing temperature of the clay.
According to the "Yang Xian Ming Hu Xi" (A Series of Teapots from Yang Xian):
"Tian Qing Clay, originating from Lishu (a place name on the eastern side of Huanglong Mountain in Dingshu Town), turns into a dark liver color when fired. It also contains inclusions.
With the essence of the mountain's spirit and the transformation of firing, it reveals various wondrous textures.
Firing Temperature: 1160°C~1250°C, Shrinkage Rate: 18%
Named for its blue-green hue derived from the ore.
This is a premium purple clay where electric kiln temperature control best stabilizes its layered visual appeal.
Its characteristics include a very sandy texture and high mica content.
When fired at high temperatures in an electric kiln, the surface of the teapot reveals a deep, profound purple-blue tone.
After use and care, it develops a fine, warm luster, akin to dark jade.
The tea brewed in it offers a flavor that is both purifying and deeply aromatic,
possessing excellent qualities for softening water and enhancing fragrance.
[Frequently Asked Questions QA]
1. How to prepare the teapot before first use?
Clean the inside and outside thoroughly. A dishcloth is recommended; do not use chemical agents. Simply rinse with water, and it is ready for use.
2. How to care for the teapot?
After each use, keep it clean and dry to prevent tea stains. Store it in a well-ventilated area after use. If storing in its box for an extended period, allow it to air dry naturally for 1-2 months to ensure the pores fully release moisture, preventing mold.
3. How to clean tea stains or mold?
Soak with an enzyme cleaner.
4. How to properly warm the teapot?
In cold weather, or if it has not been used for a long time, use warm water (around 40°C) to pour over the inside and outside of the teapot. Then, fill the teapot with water, allowing the zisha pores to absorb moisture fully.
5. How to maintain teapots with engraved designs?
For teapots with engraved designs, cleaning with a soft brush is recommended.
