With no prior experience, we gradually learned the craft of leatherworking. We fell in love with the way genuine leather transforms over time, gaining warmth, a rich sheen, and a unique patina. Introduction to Cowhide| ◆ Vegetable-Tanned Leather This refers to leather treated with natural tanning agents. It has a warm hue and more visible pores. Compared to leather treated with chemical agents, it has a milder scent. Its characteristic is that with use, the color becomes progressively richer and more lustrous, evolving beautifully from its initial appearance. This transformation process is sometimes referred to as "leather nurturing." This type of leather, which changes color with use, is favored by many customers. Vegetable-tanned leather also comes in different grades; the higher the oil content and the fewer the scars, the higher the quality and price. Premium vegetable-tanned leather primarily comes from Europe, which is where most of RamahLeatherware's leather originates, with a small portion from South America. Please dry it promptly. - Cowhide naturally has minor scars, much like human skin. These scars are more apparent in leather treated with natural agents. Please view these imperfections with understanding; RamahLeatherware carefully selects hides to avoid over 90% of significant scars. ◆ Care Instructions - No special maintenance is required for regular use. However, if stored for extended periods in Taiwan's humid climate, it can easily develop mold. Store in a dry, ventilated area or a dehumidifier box. - If the leather gets wet, avoid direct sunlight or using a hairdryer, as rapid drying can make the leather hard and brittle. Allow it to air dry naturally. Water stains may become apparent if exposed to rain. Other Notes| • The thickness of the leather does not necessarily indicate quality; all leather is processed through splitting. • Handmade items may not be perfect. Those with perfectionist tendencies should consider carefully before purchasing. • Vegetable-tanned leather is soft and more prone to scratches.
