Shuifei Sand, King's Sand, Purple-Gold Sand, and Crystal Sand are all high-content quality cinnabar. Their **main differences lie in color, texture, hardness, and production methods**.
**「Shuifei Sand」**
**A true red, Chinese red, with a slight orange undertone. The surface has a gentle matte luster and will become brighter with wear, forming a patina.**
The production method involves repeatedly grinding fine cinnabar particles into a paste, mixing with water, and after standing, collecting the upper "turbid liquid." This is then allowed to settle again (the Shuifei purification method). The cinnabar mud at the bottom is collected, air-dried, and then pressed using ancient methods. Fine mineral glitter particles are still visible on the internal cross-section.
**「King's Sand」**
**The color is closer to a true red, with a brighter hue and higher hardness.**
The production method involves multiple steps of crushing/grinding/magnetic separation/Shuifei/high polishing from natural raw cinnabar ore to gradually purify it, followed by ancient pressing methods. King's Sand has almost no visible mineral glitter on the surface, but has it internally. The surface is treated with a **high-polishing** process to achieve a metallic luster, especially under sunlight, maximizing its metallic appearance.
**「Purple-Gold Sand」**
**The color is purplish-red, and the hardness is slightly lower than King's Sand.**
The production method involves multiple steps like crushing/grinding/screening from natural raw cinnabar ore, but **without Shuifei purification**. Therefore, the surface is not as fine and has scattered small mineral glitter particles, giving a "starry sky" effect.
**「Crystal Sand」**
**The color is purplish-red and translucent.**
Large cinnabar particles are directly chipped from the cinnabar ore. Visible crystal grains are clearly seen on the surface, and under light, each particle is transparent, emitting a fluorescent red glow.
**> Spring Plowing and Autumn Harvest**
**In this world, anything that unfolds, anything poetic, anything beautiful, often happens naturally, just like the changing seasons.**
**Learn to slow down, clear your mind, treat life with softness, respect the power of time, and let everything grow naturally, like a tree, focused and fearless, growing clear annual rings.**

**> Cinnabar**
The earliest textual records of cinnabar used a single character, "丹" (dān). "丹" is a pictographic character. In ancient times, miners dug shafts and extracted minerals from them, so the character "丹" actually depicts the character "井" (jǐng - well) with a dot in the middle, signifying something extracted from a mine shaft. This something was cinnabar.
Because cinnabar is red, mostly a deep red, "朱" (zhū) also means red. Later, "丹砂" (dānshā) was called "朱砂" (zhūshā). "丹" and "朱" describe the color, and "砂" describes the shape, referring to irregularly granular minerals.
Cinnabar's color never fades. Chinese calligraphy and painting are called "丹青" (dānqīng), where "丹" refers to cinnabar. It is also an indispensable ingredient in "Eight Treasures Seal Ink," with cinnabar as its main component.
From a Feng Shui perspective, cinnabar is collected from minerals that gather the essence of the sun and moon, absorbing the positive energy of heaven and earth. Therefore, cinnabar possesses an extremely strong positive energy magnetic field. We can observe that jade objects feel cool in the hand, while cinnabar feels warm.
Since ancient times, cinnabar has been used in Taoist rituals for drawing talismans, consecrating objects, warding off evil, and suppressing malevolent influences. Cinnabar has always been regarded as a supreme item for bringing good fortune, transforming luck, suppressing negative influences, expelling evil spirits, and attracting blessings and wealth. It carries auspicious meanings of great fortune and prosperity and well-being.
The *Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing* (Classic of Materia Medica) lists cinnabar as a superior herb, often used in medicinal treatments for its properties of calming the spirit, detoxifying, and alleviating insomnia and excessive dreaming.
Living in modern times, owning one or two cinnabar artifacts can also cultivate one's character and soothe the eyes and heart.
**> Identification**
**All cinnabar products in this store are high-content cinnabar with a significant weight. You can use the following methods for identification:**
>. Burning cinnabar will turn it black. (Please heat it indirectly. It is generally not recommended to directly burn finished products, as controlling the time and area is difficult. Prolonged heating will cause it to turn black and become irreversible.)
>. Real cinnabar can draw orange-red lines on paper. (To avoid damaging the aesthetic of the finished product, please choose an inconspicuous area to draw the line, or use the complimentary bead to draw.)
**> Maintenance**
1. Avoid corrosion
Cinnabar is a mineral and does not dissolve in water. However, frequent contact with chemicals such as soap and shower gel can corrode cinnabar.
2. Avoid contact with metal objects
The mineral elements in cinnabar can absorb metal ions, causing irreversible dulling and blackening of the cinnabar.
3. Avoid high temperatures
The mercury sulfide in cinnabar only releases at 380 degrees Celsius. Therefore, as long as you avoid exposing cinnabar jewelry to high-temperature environments, you can wear it with confidence.
4. Avoid collision with hard or sharp objects.
Cinnabar is hard and brittle, so be careful to prevent drops.
5. How to clean
If your cinnabar appears dirty, do not soak it in water, as this will alter its original luster! Wipe it a few times with a slightly damp cotton cloth and let it air dry for a while.
6. Oiling for maintenance
Apply a layer of white tea oil or olive oil to the finished product, allowing the surface to absorb the oil, making it more crystal clear and bright. After applying oil, seal it in a brocade box, perhaps wrapping it in plastic wrap to prevent the oil from staining the brocade box lining.
7. Frequent handling
Frequently handle the cinnabar jewelry worn on your body with your hands, allowing a very thin layer of oil to adhere to the surface. Over time, it will become more rustic and elegant.
The actual item is more exquisite and beautiful than the photos.
