The double-sided board acts as a lid for the wooden box that holds the game pieces. This set is made from sustainably grown rubberwood. Designed by Panisa Khunprasert from Bangkok, Thailand, "I never learned how to play chess, so my goal in approaching this set was to create a beautiful object with multiple design possibilities. I was initially inspired by abstract geometric art, but was later encouraged by the MoMA Design Store team to empathize more with the players and understand the rules of the game, which allowed me to create an approachable board game of chess and English checkers."
