SunBambooTree: A distinctive name, it originates from a society founded by Dr. Lin Jia-fa, a well-known local physician in Toufen, Miaoli. Its purpose is to foster integrated mind-body-spirit well-being, enhance local culture and knowledge, and provide a space for rest and learning. Moved by Dr. Lin's contributions to the community, Old Goat pens has named this particular fountain pen model in his honor. The cap and barrel are crafted from carefully selected exotic ironwood, commonly known as "chicken wing wood." This is a premium imported timber whose cross-section patterns resemble chicken wings, hence its name. Its color ranges from dark brown to reddish-brown, featuring unique pores and natural grain. As this is a natural wood model, the grain and color will vary, making each pen unique for those who appreciate the beauty of natural wood. It is accented with gunmetal grey electroplated components and features a uniquely molded clip and an airtight cap design. Exotic ironwood is a type of wood highly favored by the Japanese. Its wood is hard, with heartwood ranging from dark brown to purplish-black. Because the heartwood is resistant to decay and moisture, and immune to termites and borers, it is suitable for construction, furniture, carving, and musical instruments. It is also known as "railway wood" because it was the primary material for railway sleepers in Taiwan's early railway history, giving it this name. This pen model offers two nib options: a calligraphy titanium tip, hand-tuned and ground by Old Goat artisans from a German Bock #180 (#5) small standard titanium nib, or a "Little Tang Dao" nib (similar to a long needle-sharp nib). The calligraphy titanium tip is a German Bock #180 (#5) small standard titanium nib, meticulously hand-tuned and ground by Old Goat artisans into a curved, flexible nib capable of producing varied line widths. Compared to steel nibs, the calligraphy titanium tip offers greater elasticity and a more responsive writing feel, allowing you to enjoy a unique writing experience. The "Little Tang Dao" nib is also a small German Bock #180 (#5) standard titanium nib, hand-ground and adjusted by Old Goat artisans into a blade-like tip (similar to a long needle-sharp nib). For calligraphy nibs, it is recommended to first test write by dipping the nib in ink (do not remove the converter installed in the barrel, to prevent ink backflow after writing). Allow time to adapt to the nib's characteristics before using the converter for inking. 2. The calligraphy nib is an EF nib that has been ground and adjusted to have a curved shape, allowing for line width variation not solely by applying pressure, but by adjusting your writing angle. Holding the pen more upright means less contact area between the nib and the paper, resulting in finer lines. As you tilt the pen more or apply slight pressure, the contact area increases, producing thicker lines. The ability to write thick or thin lines depends on your dexterity (each nib has a certain tolerance for pressure; avoid excessive force that could damage or misalign the nib.
