The title of this copperplate engraving is "Prospectus Armamentariae Civicae in Aula...", which means "View of the Citizens' Arsenal on the Palace Square". The size of the engraving is: core: 22*33 cm. It is a work by the 18th-century German painter Salomon Kleiner and engraved by the Hungarian engraver Johann August Corvinus. Salomon Kleiner was an architectural landscape painter active in the 18th century, specializing in drawing exquisite perspective drawings and elevations for the palaces, churches and urban buildings of the Bresbourg dynasty. He collaborated with many outstanding engravers and published his works in the form of copperplate, which were widely circulated throughout Europe and became an important representative of the visual culture and architectural records of the 18th century. Corvinus was one of the most prestigious sculptors in Germany at the time. He was good at depicting lines and architectural details in detail, and could faithfully translate the perspective composition and architectural proportions of the painter. This work is the result of the collaboration between the two. It features a delicate picture and rigorous composition. Through superb copperplate engraving techniques, it recreates a corner of the Vienna urban space at that time, focusing in particular on the magnificent appearance of the Civic Arsenal building and the spacious layout of the square. Soldiers, carriages and pedestrians can be seen moving around in the picture, while the streets and building outlines present a strong sense of spatial perspective, showing the importance of urban planning and military facilities at that time. The number "13" marked below this work indicates that it is the thirteenth in a series of atlases. Kleiner's works are often published in series, depicting the whole of Vienna or a specific building complex, and are numbered sequentially to provide viewers with a clear visual guide and collection reference. In addition to their artistic value, these works also have historical record and urban research significance, and are an important source of information for future generations to understand the appearance of Austrian cities during the Busburg period. Through this copperplate engraving, we can get a glimpse of the appearance of Vienna in the 18th century and feel the level of development of Europe's architecture, military and urban civilization at that time. This work is not only the result of artistic creation, but also a microcosm of the visual culture of the 18th century empire, with irreplaceable historical value and cultural connotations.
