Ceramic Artist Liang Shih-chang's Work: Smoked Blue Flowing Glaze Tea Bowl with Exclusive Brocade Box and Gift Bag - ถ้วย - ดินเผา หลากหลายสี

รายละเอียดสินค้า

The glaze colors of these tea bowls resemble landscape paintings left behind in the kiln. The blue-green glaze melts slowly at high temperatures, flowing down from the rim of the bowl to form streaks of varying depth. In areas where the glaze is thicker, the color deepens into a lake green; in areas where the glaze is thinner, revealing the grayish-white clay body beneath, it adds a sense of depth and texture. The edges of the bowl rim bear natural brown fire marks, imprints kissed by the flames. What's most captivating is the interplay of light and shadow on the glaze. In the morning sun, the entire bowl emanates a soft blue-green glow; as the light intensifies in the afternoon, fine crackles appear on the glaze, like a thin layer of ice on a lake. Turning the bowl in your hand, the glaze shifts from blue-green to grayish-blue, then back to blue-green, a mesmerizing transformation that never tires the eye. They are particularly suited for enjoying tea. When tea is poured in, viewed through the glaze, green tea appears more vibrant, and black tea richer. After drinking, subtle water marks remain at the bottom of the bowl, reflecting the light like a pool of spring water. The irregular rim fits perfectly in the palm, warm and comforting. These tea bowls are understated yet become more cherished and familiar with use, much like encountering an old friend with a compatible spirit. Their true charm unfolds with time. About the Artist Master ceramicist Liang Shih-chang was born in Tainan in 1957. At the age of 26, he apprenticed under Master Weng Kuo-chen in Yingge, learning the art of the potter's wheel, thus entering the world of ceramics. He has since held numerous ceramic exhibitions. His research into glazes is profound and comprehensive, and he skillfully applies this knowledge, repeatedly pushing his creative boundaries to produce astonishing works in the realm of glazed art. In 1999, feeling creatively stagnant and uncertain of his future path in ceramics, Liang Shih-chang decisively paused his artistic creation to delve into jade appraisal. It wasn't until 2021 that he resolved to return to ceramic creation. He spent two years familiarizing himself with glazes, producing hundreds of samples in pursuit of a distinctive style. Liang Shih-chang's current works primarily feature "glaze painting." He draws inspiration from nature, adhering to a principle of using no more than two glazes for each creation, specifically artistic and ceramic glazes. During the making process, he first selects glazes that can best express the theme, then utilizes their properties—thickness, layering, separation, scraping, marbling, or rendering—to bring his envisioned landscapes to life. He adds a few simple strokes of pattern in appropriate places to enhance the imagery and then fires the piece. In addition to glazes, materials used for painting include the cracked textures and marbled patterns of the unfired clay body, as well as natural elements like leaves or minerals. Regarding his return to ceramic creation, Liang Shih-chang finds inspiration in nature and expresses his artistic concepts through glazes and clay bodies. Ideas emerge like mushrooms after rain. "The ability to convey artistic intent using my proficient ceramic techniques, glaze knowledge, and painting expertise brings me immense joy and satisfaction. I hope this new beginning will establish my unique ceramic style."
