[Synopsis]
A collection of the latest short stories by Cheng Tsz Ling,
featuring nine pieces that draw from her personal experiences of being in unfamiliar places.
Characters find brief respite and spiritual cleansing at various waystations before continuing their journeys.
Hotels, places of rest, are microcosms of diverse experiences—
In a room never to be revisited, in a time that cannot be reclaimed,
perhaps lies the turning point of our lives.
Some leave in search of belonging, while others depart due to its absence.
Certain places we choose to linger, others we are compelled to stay.
Within spaces that transform from unfamiliar to intimate, we confront the selves we've been avoiding.
At times, we hope for healing from another soul in the room, yet sometimes, the wounds only deepen.
The sense of displacement while adrift in a foreign land is an inevitable discomfort in life. The people encountered, the companions met along the way, are what truly matter. Therefore, attachment and a lack of carefree spirit are not without merit, as long as one keeps moving forward, as long as one finds that special person...
